Living in Knowsley
Knowsley sits to the east of Liverpool and the borough offers a rich mix of rural and urban communities.
Whilst the majority of its 150,000 residents live in the major townships of Huyton, Kirkby, Halewood, Prescot and Whiston - the villages of Cronton and Knowsley provide a picture of genuine diverse communities.
Its record of economic enterprise means that world-brand business names such as Jaguar and QVC have chosen to locate to a borough of which two-thirds are green belt.
New housing developments are also attracting people to a location which is served by a top-class transport network enabling quick and easy access to region, national and international destinations.
Sustainable Communities
Knowsley is at the beginning of a radical and ambitious 15-year journey to make it the borough of choice.
The council has taken a creative approach to developing a 15 year Sustainable Community Strategy. The strategy will position Knowsley as a dynamic, thriving area which people will love to live in, work in and visit by 2023.

Visiting Knowsley
Visitor attractions include Knowsley Safari Park , set in the surroundings of Knowsley Hall, the ancestral home of the Earls of Derby. Prescot boasts the Charter Mark winning Museum of Clock and Watchmaking, celebrating an industry that was central to the town's development and growth.
The Borough is also home to the National Wildflower Centre, only one of two in the world. By creating new wildlife habitats to replace those lost in the last 50 years it has become a growing visitor attraction, whilst remaining dedicated to creative conservation, education and botanical research.
The area also benefits from the wide range of entertainment, sporting, leisure and cultural opportunities and facilities offered in Liverpool and the rest of the Merseyside area and in Manchester , which is only a short journey away.
Getting here
Transport links to and from Knowsley are first class, with major motorway and rail networks running through the Borough. The construction of the Knowsley Expressway (A5300), one of the biggest engineering projects ever undertaken by a local authority, has further improved the road network. The Port of Liverpool and nearby Liverpool John Lennon Airport provide additional national and international links.
